Catch Up!

Hang in there with me; lots of this info is dated but I haven't had time to post, and when I did have time, I just couldn't bring myself to spend it on the computer. So here goes!
Since Colten turned 1, now he is facing forward in his car seat. We are all loving this but especially Colten. He loves looking out of the window as we drive. This wasn't Colten's first Easter, but we started a few new family traditions. One tradition that we are carrying on is the making of Easter bread. Every year while I was growing up (including my college years), my great aunt Tunny always baked the most delicious Easter bread. She even made some into the shape of bunnies for us. And every year, after the blessing of the baskets, I always ate my bunny on the way home. Since my aunt Tunny is getting too old to continue this tradition, I decided that I would give it a shot and carry it on for Colten. The process began at 7am and continued until I took the breads out of the oven around 7:30pm! Yes, it was a long day, but it was so worth it! The bread tasted just like Aunt Tunny's even if the bunnies didn't quite look like hers ; > I figure that I can perfect that part as the years go on. One thing I did learn is that I need to make the bunnies smaller - I only got 4 bunnies and 2 loaves of bread whereas Aunt Tunny would get 12 bunnies and 2 loaves : > Regardless, it was yummy and Colten loved it!
We also took Colten to the see the Easter Bunny for the first time. Of course we arrived at 5:05pm - 5 minutes after the Bunny left to eat. So off we went to eat as well, and Colten "colored" on his place mat for the first time. Then it was back to the Bunny, which Colten kept calling a dog. But if that kept him from crying, I was all for it : >And we included Colten in our annual coloring of the eggs at Grandpa and Grandma's house. The next day, we headed to church for the blessing of the baskets, but I haven't uploaded those pics from Grandma's camera yet. Later that day, we had our first Easter egg hunt. Colten did a good job because he loves putting his toys inside of containers anyway : >

Of course I got sick on Good Friday and was feeling the worst on Easter Sunday, but the day was still special. The Bunny visited our house over night and hid a basket of goodies for Colten. He was so excited when he found his basket tucked along the side of the couch!

And then we were off to church. Please excuse the terrible picture of me and my red nose : >
And finally after Colten's nap, we headed to Aunt Tunny's for our traditional Easter foods. Here is Colten enjoying some bread.
To end my spring break, we all made the trip down to Columbus to visit my brother. We made a stop at Uno's, did a bit of shopping, and then celebrated my birthday and my mom's with the Melink's and Moss's. Colten loves playing with his cousin Braden! And congrats Chris and Liz on your engagement!!!
And then it was back to work...but the countdown is on for summer!!!!

And I promise to catch up and comment on everyone's blogs this weekend : >
