Ryan's Baptism

We celebrated Ryan's baptism both Saturday, February 4th and Sunday, February 5th. And if I do say so myself, the whole weekend was perfect! We had Ryan's baptismal celebration at the Elm Tree on Saturday where about 40 friends and family gathered to help us welcome Ryan into the church. Unfortunately, icy weather in southern Ohio prevented some of our family from making the journey, but other than that, I couldn't have asked for a more enjoyable and special celebration. Both the food and the company was remarkable; it was so nice to chat with some family and friends that we don't see as often as we would like.

The cake.

The centerpieces ~ we bought the wooden crosses,
and then Tom painted them especially for Ryan.

Ryan slept as everyone arrived but then was up for most of the party.

Then on Sunday, February 5th we baptized Ryan at St. Joseph the Provider in Campbell during the 11 am mass. Father Ruggieri preformed an absolutely beautiful ceremony, and both Ryan and Colten were very well-behaved during the mass. Colten was too cute as he kept asking in a too-loud-for-church voice, "is Ryan already baptized?" Here are some photo highlights...

Ryan was an angel and didn't even cry,
but his eyes did open super wide when the water woke him from his sleep.

And now for some photos from after mass with people who helped us celebrate.

And I had to include this photo of Uncle Mike and Colten because I think it is so perfect!
And to wrap things up, here are a few other random fun photos.
Colten has been really into superheros; here he is as Thor. He especially loves helmets and will be having a superhero themed 3rd birthday party in a few weeks. (I can't believe that he is going to be 3 already!!!)

Continuing with the superhero theme, here are the boys in their matching batman shirts! I figure that I won't have many years to dress them in coordinating outfits so I have to take advantage of the time I have! Wait until you see what I have in store for Easter ~ I will just say "too cute!"
Colten gave Ryan this pillow at Grandma's to play with and we got a few cute photos too!

And here is Ryan celebrating his first Valentine's Day!

Grandma and Grandpa got Colten a set of wooden cars and trucks to paint. Here he is tackling his first masterpiece!
Unfortunately, I am headed back to work in a week and a half, and yes I have cried about it numerous times already. I am so going to miss my boys. And on top of that, I am not sure how I am going to function on such little sleep and I wonder where I will find the time to do all of my school work while at home...but such is life considering I did not win the Powerball! I know that I will find a way but until I do, I am stressed and anxious and counting down the days already until summer break when I can be back at home with my boys. I will try to write at least small updates in the next few months but no promises; we may all have to wait until summer to hear about Colten's birthday and Easter and all of the small moments in between.

  1. Hang in there Cindy- your two superheroes are so cute! They will be sure to protect their mom in the years to come. I love Colten's Thor costume, and I am glad you all had a great weekend for Ryan's baptism

  2. Ryan looks like he's getting big so fast, and you look fabulous, too! I'll be thinking of you, I know how tough it is to go back to work! You'll find a schedule and superhuman energy to get through the days!
